Belgrade Online

Announcement regarding the 71st AM in Belgrade

The World Health Organization and National governments are expected to advise social distancing and avoidance of large gatherings for the foreseeable future in 2020.
The safety of ISE members is our first priority, and therefore the ISE Executive Committee, in discussion with the Local Organisers, has decided, with much regret, that the Annual Meeting in Belgrade cannot go ahead as planned.
Instead, part of the meeting program will be transformed into an online event which we call ‘Belgrade Online’. The organizing committee and the symposium organizers of the originally planned Annual Meeting will also prepare Belgrade Online.

The organizing committee would like to share with you some information about this meeting:

1 - Core meeting - single session Monday and Tuesday (31-Aug and 01-Sep-2020)
Opening session, Plenary lectures and further selected (award) lectures from all branches of Electrochemistry will be presented.
For the oral presentations we will aim for pre-recorded material that can be viewed for a limited time to allow accessibility in different time zones. There will be Q&A sessions with selected speakers scheduled to Belgrade time.
All announced plenary speakers have already agreed to give their lectures online!

2 - Symposia and parallel activities Wednesday through Friday (02-Sep to 04-Sep-2020)
A selection of the originally planned symposia will be take place online with a reduced program. Symposium organizers decide independently about the specific formats, which may include new formats of presentation that are suitable for online meetings.
Most submitted contributions will be presented in an online Poster Session. Technical details on how to prepare posters and other communication formats including chats between presenters and other participants are currently worked out and will be communicated at a later moment.
The two planned tutorials will be delivered as online courses. Their timing in the schedule is not yet fixed.

3 - Further submission of abstracts and withdrawal of abstracts
Due to the change of the Annual Meeting to an online event, the intention and possibility of participants to join the meeting may have changed. Therefore, we will reopen the abstract submission site for a short period and accept further submissions. Most likely those presentation will be accommodated as posters because the overall time for oral presentation will be drastically reduced compared to a typical Annual Meeting.

The submission site will reopen from 29-May to 12-Jun-2020.  So please prepare your abstract in advance if you are interested in participating in Belgrade Online.

We ask all authors who have already submitted an abstract, but who do not want to present in an online meeting, to withdraw their abstracts. This would greatly help the organizers to plan for the appropriate scale of the software tools required to run Belgrade Online smoothly. Please send an email to if you want to withdraw your abstract.
